Which Kernel are u using?
It happens also to me, using kernel 2.4.x (in some machine, of course, not in all).
After upgrading to kernel 2.6.x , this problem seems to be solved (for me, but you can verify that also using Virtual Machine).
But i don't know why ... :-(
