If you add Marillat's deb archive (http://www.debian-multimedia.org) to your /etc/apt/sources.list you can install all of the required programs to make tovid run with aptitude. Julien Valroff has also make deb packages for Tovid available at http://packages.kirya.net however there is not currently a package available for Sarge so I can not vouch for it.
