Yes. This was just to make sure it's not related to gettext having
problems in installation. I get the same output.
'apt-file list gettext' shows also nothing.
So it appears, there is something wrong with apt-file. Sorry, I don't
use it myself.
I guess we have solved your primary question, of to what package your
file belongs to.
