Hi Allen, try to read the man page for apt-cdrom, it tells apt-get to fetch packages from the cdrom instead of from the net if that is what you really want (it is best to fetch packages from the net since then you allways have access to the lates packages), read the man page for apt-cdrom and perhaps some web pages about how apt works (recomend perhaps by starting at wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Packaging_Tool :-) ).
