I found an odd problem.
When I login as root via the X-window, all my terminal sessions have a
$PATH variable with '/ sbin;' as one of the directories.
Maybe in .xsession or .xinitrc?
The "mangle" was in /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config.
I fixed it manually.
But I am not inclined to munge the X11 files myself so it's a little "spooky".
It's a minor problem but I think it may have come up immediately from my last
upgrade yesterday. I found it only in root, which I don't often use. So it's
entirely possible that it's been there for as much as a year.
