That's what I thought, but I've tried multiple times so I'm absolutely
sure that there is a difference in behaviour before and after booting Linux.
To wake up the machine has to be an atx form, and be powered on, as
you can figure by the lighting ethernet led, in the box´s rear.
I´m guessing you have some issue with acpi. What machine is this?
An acpi issue sounds plausible, but it's an area I have no experience
in. I certainly can't see any problems in dmesg | grep -i acpi
