i guess this should be considered a "bad answer" from the system:
# mount /dev/hda9/ /mnt/drive
mount: /dev/hda9 is not a valid block device
hinting towards a very damaged HD!
What does dmesg say about finding any HD?
My dmesg tells me
hda: SAMSUNG Serial number, type
hda: max request size ...
hda: hda1 hda2 hda3
ie some information about the disk and it's partitions.
If the disk is detected by Knoppix you should also find your partitions
in the /etc/fstab Knoppix created for you.
Maybe the cable is slightly loose. You could try to carefully check if
they are fixed.
