If you are in X, use Synaptic to reconfigure your X server:
Select the package xserver-xfree86
Package -> Configure
Follow the Debconf screens
If you are using a console or terminal window, as root
# dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
Follow the Debconf screens
