rtorrent uses libtorrent, AFAIK:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg --status rtorrent | grep Depends
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.3.5-1), libcomerr2 (>= 1.33-3), libcurl3 (>= 7.15.2-2),
libgcc1 (>= 1:4.0.2), libidn11 (>= 0.5.18), libkrb53 (>= 1.4.2), libncurses5
(>= 5.4-5), libsigc++-2.0-0c2a (>= 2.0.2), libssl0.9.8 (>= 0.9.8a-1),
libstdc++6 (>= 4.0.2-4), libtorrent6 (>= 0.8.5), zlib1g (>= 1:1.2.1)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Anyway, it is highly recommended, IMVHO.

Regards, Rogério.
