Thanks for the help i think the problem must have been that i deleted the apgart module somehow as i reinstalled and compiled the kernel and now things work ok. My debian operating systems coming togerther slowly but surely (i can finely get an internet connection and mount my windows partition) Im currently having a problem with upgrading to gnome 2.2.
