I'm running 2.6.16 on "stable" right now. Just download the vanilla
kernel source from http://www.kernel.org/, compile it and use it.
I did this outside of Debian's packaging system so that apt wouldn't
attempt to turn my system into a mixture of Sarge and Sid.
