Don't forget that the non-US pronunciation of "schedule" is soft 
(sh-edule), not hard (sk-edule). So, doing without "c" would lead to a 
further fragmentation of the language. As I understand it, Linux is 
supposed not to have a fragmentation problem at the moment.
