Why call a sport where the object of the game is to pick the ball up in
your hands, run with it and throw it to your colleague so he can do the
same *foot*ball. In the UK thats a foul and if you do it deliberately
you could get sent off!

by peasants, as opposed to the horse-riding sports often played
by aristocrats.
Interesting page. It's wonderful idea, wikipedia, but that's all it is
in some cases. I've played, followed and studied football (or soccer,
for the US boys) all my life, and that's the first time I've ever seen
it described as "foot ball".
