Hi, I use ubuntu too, and I like it. It works pretty much the same way (APT and .deb-packages) with the same software (synaptic, aptitude). Ubuntu uses the GNOME desktop environment, but you can install other environments as well. I don't notice anything particular being totally different in use than in Debian.
