Stock Nautilus can handle "ssh://host/path", but that uses shell interaction on the remote host, so it a little flaky. I recently packaged gnome-vfs-sftp, which uses the sftp protocol, and is much faster/safer/better/etc. This gives Nautilus (and all other gnome-vfs applications) support for sftp://host/path.
