Not that condeming. The friend I refer to below is also the IT manager at the tv station where I was Chief Engineer since 1984 & still somewhat involved with it, they never really let you retire when you know where all the bodies are buried :), has more than once made the comment that he uses whatever gets the job done quickest & best, and that sometimes windows is best. So while I won't touch it with a 20 foot fiberglass pole, I do know that linux isn't the only thing around in the outside world. >I don't recall asking >your permission to decide what to run on my own machine. >Since I bought this machine in order to do a contract for >some people, which involved supporting a product on SCO, >Linux, and Windows, I thought putting on the machine what >they requested was a good idea. Its thoroughly broken according to the package managers, but its funny, everything I want to use every day works flawlessly. Azureus has me whupped though. BitTorrent works great though, go figure. >Personally, I wouldn't have >chosen any of the Fedora Project stuff for my own use, >but that's what they wanted, so that's what I installed. >I'd probably use Debian if it were just for me. > >When you're ready to pay me at the same rate >they were, I'll put on it what you want. Chuckle, that did raise the hackles, didn't it? :) I probably should have put a smiley on it, but I thought the 'tsk tsk' carried a similar notation. I have a friend doing some of that in a shop in the next town up the interstate from me, I'll ask him what the going rate is at his place tonight. The $20 bill was a SWAG of course. What was your major (if you have a degree, I don't, 8th grade, self taught from there, I have a C.E.T. and what used to be a first phone and I have been involved in some interesting things over the years you may hear about if you stick around long enough, but I also know that won't buy *you* a cuppa.) and where do you want to apply yourself next? Sometimes makeing a little noise might generate a lead or 2. >Mike >-- >p="p=%c%s%c;main(){printf(p,34,p,34);}";main(){printf(p,34,p,34);} >This message made from 100% recycled bits. >You have found the bank of Larn. >I can explain it for you, but I can't understand it for you. >I speak only for myself, and I am unanimous in that! -- Cheers, Gene People having trouble with vz bouncing email to me should add the word 'online' between the 'verizon', and the dot which bypasses vz's stupid bounce rules.
