I haven't used Debian for several years. I am glad to be back in the game again.
I decided to install 2GB of RAM on my Compaq Evo (D31vm). As this is a dual boot system, I do know for certain that the memory is accepted by the chipset. Also the datasheets for this machine reflect a compatibility with that quantity of memory
In linux, only 1GB is visible.
In fact, 'free' told me that my total memort is exactly 906736kb. /proc/meminfo agrees with that too.
So am I being unusual by possessing such large amounts of memory, or did I forget something more fundamental.
btw, I have a rather current 2.6.8-2-386 #1 (i686) kernel
