Hi
I cleaned out my system with debfoster, but unfortunately the
package "menu" is stuck. I earlier remembered a way to force at
package out with dpkg. But man or google can't make me remember..

        # aptitude purge menu
        Reading Package Lists... Done
        Building Dependency Tree
        Reading extended state information
        Initializing package states... Done
        Reading task descriptions... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
          menu
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0
not
upgraded.
Need to get 0B of archives. After unpacking 1679kB will be
freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n/?]
        Writing extended state information... Done
(Reading database ... 25111 files and directories currently
installed.)
        Removing menu ...
chmod: cannot access `/usr/bin/update-menus.real': No such
file

So can anyone remember that "magic" dpkg command that clears any
defiant package. :-)

I am not at my Debian machine, so I can't double check, but I think you need "dpkg --force-purge". (Careful with that! Check the man page. Search "force-thing".)

Luis
