Thanks, but it wouldn't help me. The system with the modem is not my workstation, so I'm only using it through ssh and I have a Logitech wireless keyboard (only way I could get a Logitech wireless mouse when I needed it in a hurry was to buy the mouse/keyboard set), which has no LEDs (and that's a pain sometimes!).
