I guess I was just hoping to find a solution within debian proper. Following the instructions found here: http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/Distro/Debian#MadWifiold worked quite well. I still need to tweak the network setup but at least I'm connecting wirelessly now. The network setup can wait till I get the lid event to not shut off the backlight until reboot. --dave
