The main problem with second-hand laptops -- and I suspect the main reason they get to be second-hand -- is usually the batteries. My local second-hand laptop vendor warrantees everything except the battery. -- hendrik > > Debian's monitor told me the battery was fully > charged, but, on starting I got a message 'Running off > Battery - 11 minutes left', two minutes later > 'Battery running out 0 minutes left'. For my aging Thinkpad, a new battery from IBM costs over $300 nowadays. A new laptop only about $1000, for a machine that's probably 200 times faster and 20 times the disk capacity. We use the old laptop with an AC adaptor when our regular computer has too many children using it. -- hendrik -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
