mplayer shows some of the same problems,
but I don't think my instalation of it is completely correct.
Will experiment with vlc; didn't know about it.
ogle is not installed correctly.

have you tried anything besides xine? maybe vlc or mplayer? vlc is a
pretty easy install, #apt-get install vlc
