If you need performance I suggest using Harddrives Western Digital Raptor WD740GD which have SCSI Hardware and SATA interface. I have such Raid-4 (3w9000S-4LP) with 3+1 drives on my FileServer for my developer $HOME. For my "normal $HOMES I am using 7+1 IBM 400 GByte drives using an 8-channel 3w8500-8LP For my rarely used Backupdrive I have a Raid-5 with 4 drives of 250 GByte Seagates. > My question is: What Raid HARDWARE controllers did you managed > to configure > in Debian without (too) much work?
