I tried executing 'make menuconfig; in my kernel (2.4.20) source directory on my Woody box and received this error:
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.20/scripts/lxdialog' /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lncurses collect2: ld returned 1 exit status >> Unable to find the Ncurses libraries. >> >> You must have Ncurses installed in order >> to use 'make menuconfig' make[1]: *** [ncurses] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.20/scripts/lxdialog' make: *** [menuconfig] Error 2 However, 'locate ncurses' show this at the top of the list: /lib/libncurses.so.5 /lib/libncurses.so.5.2 and 'apt-show-versions |grep ncurses' shows this: ncurses-term/stable uptodate 5.2.20020112a-7 ncurses-bin/stable uptodate 5.2.20020112a-7 libncurses5/stable uptodate 5.2.20020112a-7 ncurses-base/stable uptodate 5.2.20020112a-7 Any ideas on what is going on here? -Roberto Sanchez ___________________________________________________ Yahoo!
