This is going to be very sticky. First, to use it as a
browser helper application with that parameter, it is
necessary to write a shell script. When I do that,
say, switching to /music and invoking

the following comment appears:

That looks like an environment variable. Can I do
anything with it? Some have also compiled OSS support
into the kernel, reporting success. Is that a good
idea, or will it interfere with ALSA?
