Hi list, I'm running Debian SID with linux-image-2.6-686, since few days i'm facing DMA problems after upgrading kernel to 2.6.14 (from stock). Hdparm reports "operation not permitted" when I try do activate DMA.
I have read http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2005/11/msg00410.html and recompile my kernel but still same issue. ------------------------------------ Infos of my config: ++ kernel linux-image-686 2.6.14-4 ++ PCI # lspci 0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82845 845 (Brookdale) Chipset Host Bridge (rev 03) 0000:00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82845 845 (Brookdale) Chipset AGP Bridge (rev 03) 0000:00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge (rev 12) 0000:00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801BA ISA Bridge (LPC) (rev 12) 0000:00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801BA IDE U100 (rev 12) 0000:00:1f.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801BA/BAM USB (Hub #1) (rev 12) 0000:00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801BA/BAM SMBus (rev 12) 0000:00:1f.4 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801BA/BAM USB (Hub #2) (rev 12) 0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV11 [GeForce2 MX/MX 400] (rev b2) 0000:02:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82801BA/BAM/CA/CAM Ethernet Controller (rev 03) ++ Modules #lsmod Module Size Used by i2c_algo_bit 9544 1 nvidiafb loop 17448 0 ide_cd 43588 0 cdrom 40928 1 ide_cd generic 4356 0 [permanent] piix 10436 0 [permanent] i2c_i801 8876 0 i2c_core 22128 3 nvidiafb,i2c_algo_bit,i2c_i801 e100 36032 0 mii 5568 1 e100 hw_random 5172 0 shpchp 99492 0 pci_hotplug 28628 1 shpchp joydev 9920 0 intel_agp 24188 1 agpgart 35720 3 drm,nvidia_agp,intel_agp parport_pc 36868 0 parport 37256 1 parport_pc reiserfs 278928 2 ide_disk 18784 7 ide_generic 1216 0 [permanent] ide_core 131740 5 ide_cd,generic,piix,ide_disk,ide_generic evdev 9600 0 mousedev 11584 1 usbcore 127680 6 snd_usb_audio,snd_usb_lib,usbhid,yealink,uhci_hcd psmouse 39684 0 ++ Disks hdparm -i /dev/hd{a,c} /dev/hda: Model=Maxtor 6Y080L0, FwRev=YAR41VW0, SerialNo=Y3085A4E Config={ Fixed } RawCHS=16383/16/63, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=57 BuffType=DualPortCache, BuffSize=2048kB, MaxMultSect=16, MultSect=off CurCHS=4047/16/255, CurSects=16511760, LBA=yes, LBAsects=160086528 IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:120,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120} PIO modes: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4 DMA modes: mdma0 mdma1 mdma2 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 udma2 udma3 udma4 *udma5 udma6 AdvancedPM=yes: disabled (255) WriteCache=enabled Drive conforms to: (null): ATA/ATAPI-1 ATA/ATAPI-2 ATA/ATAPI-3 ATA/ATAPI-4 ATA/ATAPI-5 ATA/ATAPI-6 ATA/ATAPI-7 * signifies the current active mode /dev/hdc: Model=Maxtor 6Y160P0, FwRev=YAR41BW0, SerialNo=Y43RRXHE Config={ Fixed } RawCHS=16383/16/63, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=57 BuffType=DualPortCache, BuffSize=7936kB, MaxMultSect=16, MultSect=off CurCHS=4047/16/255, CurSects=16511760, LBA=yes, LBAsects=268435455 IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:120,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120} PIO modes: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4 DMA modes: mdma0 mdma1 mdma2 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 udma2 udma3 udma4 *udma5 udma6 AdvancedPM=yes: disabled (255) WriteCache=enabled Drive conforms to: (null): ATA/ATAPI-1 ATA/ATAPI-2 ATA/ATAPI-3 ATA/ATAPI-4 ATA/ATAPI-5 ATA/ATAPI-6 ATA/ATAPI-7 * signifies the current active mode Has someone any clue about this problem that slow down my system ?
