If you are in "mutt" please post the resultat if you type: :set mbox=<TAB> (it store the messages read from /var/mail/hendrik before you exit mutt) :set record=<TAB> (it store the SEND/OUTGOING messages) :set spoolfile=<TAB> (the incoming folder) because "mbox" should be set to "+read" for example, "record" to "+send" and "spoolfile" to "/var/mail/hendrik".
