I'm running Etch.
I noticed recently that the boot process gets stuck on "Starting portmap daemon:
portmap".
After a few minutes, I hit ctrl-C and it continues booting.
Any ideas?
yes...
your loopback interface needs to be active:
/sbin/ifconfig lo up
possibly your loopback interface is not brought up in the boot process
until after the portmap daemon is called
you'll also find that others will hang if loopback isnt up (i.e.
gnome, kde, etc...)
hope this helps
