Maybe I wasn't clear enough. Shortcuts to applications in IceWM can be displayed as small icons on the taskbar next to IceWM's equivalent of the "start" button from Windows. This is a display style very similar to the quick launch section of the Windows taskbar. <http://www.coolnerds.com/XP/Taskbar/xpTaskbar.htm> Here's a picture of the equivalent on IceWM: <http://www.plig.org/xwinman/screenshots/icewm-covex.png> Ignore the desktop icons, and check out the small icons on the taskbar. Very true though that this will not help if you are looking for shortcuts to documents, but it should satisfy the need for quick access to frequently used applications.
