I think that the bpo1 comes fro backports.org, right? > I have taken a peek over at the bug reporting page and though there > are some reports of problems with that version, and previous versions, > there is only one post that is somewhat similar - regarding seg faults > in crack-attack. Today, for the first time in my life, I installed tuxracer (well, actually, the same program, but the free version with other name) and it froze my system as soon as I clicked "train" or something similar. I don't play games and, thus, having 3D working for me isn't that important (I also don't need programs for dealing with geometrical modelling or chemical programs). I would, though, like to get things working right, if possible. The Magic Sysrq keys worked, though. > I gave that a try; it pops up the same messages about visuals not > being supported, and the secondary screen disappears as soon as it is > drawn. It doesn't segfault, though. Wait a second: you mentioned that yours wasn't a dual-head, right? What exactly do you mean by secondary screen? A second monitor on another card? > 1-9 is in unstable but there's no indication of when or if it will be > backported into sarge. I can't help here. All that I can say is that it hasn't migrated to testing and, thus, I would (still) not upgrade to it. Please, keep me posted on the progress you make.
