I use PuTTY on a Win98 machine to connect to my home machine behind a
router, tunnelling VNC over SSH. Is it possible to tunnel through a router
using Cygwin/SSH and get an X desktop?

I like VNC (especially TightVNC), but I've found it to be a bear to set up.
:-) I often lose the ability to dial in to the machine, and I'm not quite
sure why. Is the Cygwin/SSH solution easier and more robust? Is it faster?

Regards,

Kevin Griffis

Oh, that kind of helped. Now I gotta wonder if Knoppix will start X
in failsafe mode for me somehow so i don't have a WM in the way. I'll
give that a shot tonight when I have more time.
