That's from XFree86 3.3.6, which is still needed for some cards that aren't supported in 4.x. You almost certainly want xserver-xfree86 instead. > My current configuration has a vertRefresh of 48-120 Hz, but the > debian file ends up with 50-85Hz. Just fix it in the file. > Other oddities. (1) It's not particularly a kernel issue; (2) the older X server is probably compiled with a minimum set of drivers. Your kernel should be fine, but changing to the newer X server would help. (That having been said, you are aware of the difference between the 'nv' and non-free 'nvidia' drivers? You need the latter for accelerated 3-D support, and that requires some kernel support.) > Should I expect the debian xserver configuration to be close enough > to the RedHat so that I can use one to some extent as a model for > changing the other? Yes, they both use XFree86. If you have a working configuration under Red Hat you can probably come very close to having something that works by just copying over the XF86Config file. -- David Maze [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://people.debian.org/~dmaze/ "Theoretical politics is interesting.
