However, since last June AMD decided to activate the 64-bit
extensions on socket 754 Sempron processors. Because of
that there are Sempron processors in the market that have
these instructions and processors that don___t have them.
How can we detect if a Sempron CPU has the 64-bit instruction
set?
I wouldn't be surprised if Debian-amd64 ran on my box.

Ok, its not that simple, I agree. But you mean semprons with 64
extensions are 32_64? Isn´t it the difference between having extensions
and being 64bit pure? You can´t run a 32bit debian image on a pure
64bit, that´s what I meant before.
