Depending on the client being used the download may be faster and it
may affect the ability of others to connect to you and get the torrent
data you are seeding.

And just for completeness if you have multiple machines going through a
router and the router has a port triggering feature you should be able
to list the port range with 6881 as the trigger so the ports are not
left open all the time and the relevant data is forwarded to the
machine that triggered the opening of the ports.
