cups problem

I have debian sarge with all updates. I have cups installed. Using http://localhost:631 I can configure and print in ff. But when I try to access printers in control center, I get message
Unable to retrieve the printer list. Error message received from manager:
Connection to CUPS server failed. Check that the CUPS server is correctly installed and running. Error: connection refused.
I am unable to print from kde apps. What to do?
