P.S. - I'm running Debian Sarge, with the latest stable version of GNOME.
install sudo, add yourself to the group sudo, and put yourself in
/etc/sudoers
Then add the command you want to your "sessions"
(gnome-session-configuration) and prepend "sudo " to the command.
