Oh DOH! I didn't realise that the window list was configurable/addable!
A couple of other things went to desktop heaven as well - my key
combinations, such as alt-F1 don't work anymore. This seems to be less
easy to reconfigure. In fact, they still seem to be set up in Desktop
Preferences, but they're not working.
What can I do about them?

If, after exiting gnome and shutting off gdm, you still have *any* gnome
