CP and CPIO are not properly preserving modification-time (using the appropriate options) on my Debian sarge system (i686), upgraded from Woody, and upgraded to the 2.6 kernel. CP and CPIO are each mangling atime and ctime in different ways. Aptitude says the stuff I have installed is current. Everything else I use seems to be working great with the upgrade, and the 2.6 kernel really speeds things up. Is something subtle broken in just my system, or is this actually a wider problem? Debsums tells me nothing re cp and cpio (if I'm doing it right).
A Google groups search told me nothing.
