Hi Cecil, that is the magic of apt-get! > KDE is default. You have a basic config with woody. If you want better support for things, Debian has release a new stable distro: sarge. While woody is still supports, I would be recommended that you upgrade to 'sarge', as its the current stable. I like to try: 'X -configure' and what I can do. or use the debian perferred method: 'dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86' and select the 'vesa' driver (or maybe try the 'nv' if the vesa works) > I went > on-line with the Zoom modem, but have not tried the Best Data yet > because I get no desk top and don't feel like browsing without Mozilla. It is a good thing to be familiar with browsing the web with out X windows. Using links, w3m, or lynx are very good when you need to get info and since they do not show graphics are FASTER. > The HP 845c has never worked even after going to linuxprinting.org and > sourceforge.com for the PPDs. It is not uncommon to have 2 computers or hardware that look identical only to find out that they are different parts inside. I keep reading about folks buying wifi cards with the exact same model number and one works and one doesnt because the manufacturers change the chipsets without changing the part/model number. > What can be done?
