I don't use dselect any more but from memory, there is an undo function
called by something like Ctl+X .... check the help facility.

Views differ but aptitude is recognised as the default method of updating
systems in sarge (stable). So you could abandon dselect and try
aptitude.  If you haven't got it installed do:

# apt-get install aptitude
