That's the problem. I've managed to get things working pretty well with
a couple of nautilus scripts and gnome sudo. It's not perfect, but is
pretty close. The only downside is that you have to unmount via the
script, rather than the unmount menu item. I can live with it though.

I can post the scripts if anyone is interested - but not until I get
home, since my desktop is not on at the moment.

Indeed - the idea is to avoid opening up a shell, mounting as root, and
doing the same to unmount. Plus the icon should appear on the desktop.
None of these things will happen, but just mounting the image as root as
described above.

Ha! You should try programming for it. It's a weird cross between UNIX
and Classic Mac OS. Lots of stuff that you'd expect to just work from a
unix point of view don't *quite* work until you modify things a little
bit to do it the Mac way :( Took me ages to iron out all the issues when
I first started developing for it.
