What happens when you run this from Konsole? Do you get permissions errors? Does it seem to freeze (a sign the cd drive is still busy)? Are you part of group cdrom ? in Konsole, type: groups And, you should see 'cdrom' among a few others. If not, su to root, and, as root, type: adduser yourusername cdrom
