I thought so, too, but apparently many people have problems with it. (I've noticed this is the same group of people who, when asked about the installation manual respond with, "What installation manual?" and don't bother to read any prompts or help text anywhere during the installation). > I just wanted to know what the various 'debians' (SID, woody, potatoe) > people refer to. sid is the unstable distribution, still in development. This is for the developers and the bleeding edge lunatic fringe of which I happen to be a member of. While still more stable than Windows (and about half the RPM based distros for), I can't recommend it to new users. When it breaks, it's just about gauranteed to be some form of mystery breakage. woody is the testing distribution right now, and will become stable sometime around May 1, 2002 8:o). If you're still using potato, and you're on the i386 architecture, go ahead and upgrade to woody now and avoid the rush later. potato is the stable (released) distribution, and will join it's buddies bo, buzz, ham, rex and slink in the debian-archive when woody goes stable. Yes, the releases are named after characters from Pixar's 1995 movie "Toy Story." - -- Baloo -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE9G8kxNtWkM9Ny9xURAiRFAKCvHdg/B9/yqw1zZmzE55ji82mqLwCfVhbj MZxyyBDhLOO4748Fcbmxt+Y= =dlpY -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
