Don't say such things. A friend of mine had a failing harddisk... or so he thought. Turned out that the problem was a bunch of dust in the PSU that shorted a bit of the 12V rail. Dust can be fun. Anyway, did you try to measure resistance between some parts? Like the battery and the case.
