I'm crossposting this since I suspect there are not many readers of
debian-apache, and I'd like to know if someone is already doing what
I want..
There's an apparently cool accelerator module for setting up two
apache instances for web applications, especially mod_perl ones (one
carrying the calculation part, the other serving the (slow) clients):
mod_accel from Igor Sysoev, http://www.sysoev.ru/mod_accel/, english
documentation at http://dapi.chaz.ru/articles/mod_accel.xml?lang=en .
I would like to run Debian's apache and apache-perl packages for this
configuration. I'm trying right now to get mod_accel to compile as
module loadable into that apache. It's not that easy yet, since it's
configure script requires the full apache and mod_ssl sources (for
EAPI) for that, and it also likes Ralf Engelschall's MM code, for
which a Debian package exists (libmm11). I guess I could maybe just
fetch the apache sources, compile mod_accel and then copy the binary
over to /usr/lib/apache, but I'm thinking about properly packaging
the thing.
So has anyone already done this, or would be the tips for doing it
(it would be my first attempt creating a Debian package from scratch)?
Christian.
