Hi Joachim and all. first of all, I think now that it is a hardware problem (loose cable, failing cdrom or something) rather than something in unstable, though i'm not absolutely sure. Secondly, though, I've been using this cd setup for over a month with no problems and with support built into the kernel, so it's definitely not a problem with the modules being loaded.
