Hi there, I'm having here problems with my onboard HPT366. I'm using Debian unstable Kernel 2.4.18 2 Celeron 533 Abit BP6 Lighton 40x CD-Rom
Anyway, whenever I try to mount /dev/cdrom (which links to /dev/hdf) my system freezes instantly and leaves [EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@anytime in /var/log/syslog as it's only trace. The CD-ROM is the only device using HPT-366 and PCI-Slot 3 is empty (heard of problems between devices using Slot 3 and simultaneous use of the onboard HPT366). At bootup there is no complaining about the hpt366 but an note that it is not running in 100%% native mode and will probe irqs later May 23 17:28:50 galaxy kernel: HPT366: onboard version of chipset, pin1=1 pin2=2 May 23 17:28:50 galaxy kernel: HPT366: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 98 May 23 17:28:50 galaxy kernel: HPT366: chipset revision 1 May 23 17:28:50 galaxy kernel: HPT366: not 100%% native mode: will probe irqs later May 23 17:28:50 galaxy kernel: ide2: BM-DMA at 0xb400-0xb407, BIOS settings: hde:pio, hdf:pio May 23 17:28:50 galaxy kernel: HPT366: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 99 May 23 17:28:50 galaxy kernel: HPT366: chipset revision 1 May 23 17:28:50 galaxy kernel: HPT366: not 100%% native mode: will probe irqs later May 23 17:28:50 galaxy kernel: ide3: BM-DMA at 0xc000-0xc007, BIOS settings: hdg:pio, hdh:pio The system also recognizes the CD-ROM May 23 17:28:50 galaxy kernel: hdf: ATAPI 40X CD-ROM drive, 120kB Cache, UDMA(33) I tried to find documented problems matching to mine but didn't found something really useful. Does anyone have experience with the HPT366? Could there be a link between this problem and the neverending sum of APIC errors? Frank. -- Frank Brodbeck [EMAIL PROTECTED]
