hi, Yesterday night when I was running 'updatedb', my HD suddenly produce a strange sound 'scrit... scrit...' It is like when a HD reading something, but this time the sound is much more longer. So I thought something is wrong, and I cancel the job by using CTRL-C. After that, I try to copy a file from one folder to the other, it was fail with the message 'Read Only file, bla bla bla'. I thought by rebooting everything will be solved, but I was wrong. The computer won't boot into my linux system, every time the booting process reach the part where they will check my root system then the HD will start producing the sound.
Let me show the complete message: Checking Root File System FSCK 1.25 (20 Sept 2001) /dev/hda6 Contain File System With Error, Check Forced [The sound starts now] HDA : IRQ timeout : Status=0xD0 {Busy} IDE0 : Reset : Success [The sound still there] After about 2 minutes, they give me option whether I want to login as a root or I reboot the system. When I login as a root, I try to do 'fsck.ext2 -vc' manually, and it will return the same message as above. It will just stuck there, with my HD keep reading. So I reboot again. Can anyone please tell me what has happened to my system? Actually this is not the first time, it happened the same thing aroung few weeks back. That time I solved it by reinstall my system, and nothing happen until yesterdat night. Thank you willy -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
