In fact, a revision has been released and Woodyr1 is now stable. Potato is still in the Debian archives, but many are expecting support to be discontinued in a few months. Since you're installing to a new hard drive from scratch anyway, this might be a good time to move up to Woodyr1. A 2.2 kernel is installed by default; for a 2.4 kernel just type "bf24" at the initial prompt when you boot the installation CD.
