Unfortunately I'm not at my friend's computer right now, but I'd like to prepare a little for the next seance -- the last time, of course, I failed. The reason I asked about the 2.4 kernel was that I somehow thought PPPoE support must be compiled into the running kernel in order to use it. But this is a different issue, right? After reading some instructions I came to the conclusion that it's not needed -- what's more, it could only complicate things even more. Is that correct? On that computer, I've installed the [1]"Roaring Penguin" which didn't work -- but there could've been many things wrong. I'm only asking if the PPPoE support in the 2.4.16 really messes things up. And is there another approach to this?
